Struthiomimus was an ostrich-like dinosaur which lived in modern North America during the late Cretaceous period. Struthiomimus was characterized by long limbs and a long neck, large eyes, and a toothless beak. It was approximately 14 ft long and 4.5 ft tall at the hips, making it relatively small for a theropod. Paleontologists are still unsure whether Struthiomimus was herbivorous or omnivorous, although almost all agree that its relative abundance precludes it from being a pure carnivore.

Struthiomimus Facts

“Struthiomimus” comes from the Greek “stroutheios” meaning “of the ostrich” and “mimos,” meaning “mimic.”
